Can you go your whole life without taking your tonsils or appendix out?

Yes: Speaking as a surgeon, we usually only operate when there is a problem. If you never have a problem with your tonsils or appendix, you can keep them. A tonsillectomy is performed for recurrent tonsillitis which causes significant problems. Decades ago, it was frequently performed, but not so often now. The appendix is usually only removed when it is inflamed (appendicitis).
