Difficulty breathing: The main symptom of asthma is shortness of breath, which can be accompanied by wheezing and/or coughing. There are several different types - asthma due to allergens, viral infections, exercise, cold air and irritants, to name a few. Some types of asthma don't respond well to the kinds of medication typically used to treat it. You need to discuss your symptoms with your doctor.
