For what length of time can someone live with melanoma?

Information: It depends on the stage of the disease. Thin melanomas have the best prognosis. People and live nearly normal life with it. However, melanoma can behave in unpredictable ways so life long surveillance is appropriate. Thick melanomas have a much poorer prognosis.

Melanoma: Melanoma starts on the surface of the skin. Superficial/early melanomas are curable with surgery. If the melanoma spreads from the original spot the chance of cure is low. Melanoma is caused by the sun. Avoid sun burns and any unnecessary exposure to the sun.
