Yes: It is more common in younger kids 6m to 6 yr but I have seen it at 8.

Yes: Some children have croup for several years. Most croup is between 6 months and 3 years.It is thought that some children who suffer recurrent bouts of spasmodic croup have a primarily allergic rather than infective etiology. Rarely recurrence can be related congenital narrowing of airway that offers no problem when well but occurs with superimposed upper resp infection.

Possibly ...: Croup is an infection (typically viral) of the voice box (larynx) and windpipe (trachea). Characterised by a barking cough, hoarse voice and noisy breathing. It is most common in young children as their airways are narrow and more prone to swelling. Common in under 3's it becomes less so with age, as the airways mature. It can still affect older children, and rarely teenagers / adults.
