Ask your surgeon: In general terms, it is safe to work on progressive core strengthening and range of motion following spinal fusion - however, you do need to discuss the timing and progression of your rehab with your surgeon, because there are many ways to do a fusion, as well as different numbers of levels fused depending on the patient.

Avoid cobra: I would recommend avoiding the cobra stretch hyperextension is rarely comfortable in degenerative post fusion spine remember stiffness is part of fusion plan a stiff balanced spine that protects nerves was the goal i usually trcommend pilates and swimming use pain as guide replace running with elliptical or swimming.
