A member asked:

Could hiv+ positive children be required to reveal their status?

Why do you ask?: This isn't an ethics-and-law discussion board. The law does not require an adult to disclose when taking somebody to bed or sharing an illegal needle. Why make these unfortunate children's lives more difficult than an adult's? It's asking for discrimination and bullying. Demagogues and fear-mongers used to allege they might bite somebody, but HIV probably can't be transmitted this way.

No.: There is no evidence that they are any more of a danger to the other students than any non-infected student is. The only thing revealing their status will accomplish is to alienate them unfairly.

Privacy: Absolutely not. There is no risk to any one in these children's lives that would be worth betraying their safety and privacy.
