Because...: Unlike carbs or sugars they do not cause a rapid secretion of insulin, and blood sugar levels to not skyrocket and then plummet. Protein delivers a steady supply of glucose to the body as needed by conversion of Amino Acids ( the building blocks of protein) by the liver into glucose. Therefore hunger is abated. Recent evidence, just published, suggest that carbs actually make the brain hungrier!
