A member asked:

If someone has a wound and it smells is it contagious?

No.: While unpleasant, smelling an infected wound in and of itself won't get you sick (the bacteria or fungi won't cause infection in your nose or lungs - unless you stick your finger in the wound, then stick that finger in your nose). You and your family's best defense against infection is frequent handwashing and avoiding contact with infected wounds.

It depends: If a wound is infected, it could be contagious if you are physically exposed to the infectious agent.
