Dehydration &ketosis: Sugar is an osmotic diuretic.Diabetes causes increased sugar in your urine. This causes the patient to loose too much water causing significant weight loss. Due to abnormal metabolisum the patient becomes catabolic breaking down othersources of calories causing ketosis.Increased ketones reduce appetite.
