Absolutely: Diets have little benefit except limitation of alcohol intake. You need to be on Allopurinol to lower your serum uric acid below 6 mg/dl. That will usually prevent future attacks. If you do not take this step, uric acid will continue to accumulate in the tissues and the gouty attacks will become worse.
