Options: Always talk to your pediatrician before starting an herbal or new medication. Chamomille drops can be very helpful for getting little ones to nod off. Just be aware that there are some children who have paradox reactions who actually become more awake. A soothing bath with lavender can be a good quieting night time routine. My children still like soft & gentle lullabyes.

Questionable use: Herbal remedies are currently uncontrolled and possibly dangerous to a toddler. Only follow your pediatrician's advice in caring for your child. If your toddler is having difficulty sleeping, the cause is usually poor habit patterns, anxiety or an illness. Please have your toddler checked for sleep problems.

Many: Teas made with chamomile, lemon grass, lavender and other herbs can be quite soothing and safe to use. For small children i've used tincture of chamomile which you give with a dropper. There are homeopathic sleep aids made by boiron and hylands that are safe and helpful. All of these are available at a variety of health food stores and on line. And don't forget warm milk; not an old wive's tale.
