Depends on cause: Musculoskeletal problems can give you neck pain (strain, joints, arthritis, pinched nerve) but many other things can "refer" pain to the neck (heart, reflux, lung, teeth, ears etc) -- this means the problem is somewhere else but the brain feels it in the neck. Best to see an md who can help you isolate the cause and arrive at a solution. In the mean time, stretch, heat, relaxation may help.
