Wry neck: What you appear to be describing is often called a wry neck. This can occur on occasion when the lymph glands in the muscles on one side of the neck swell & become irritated, making the muscle tender. It can also occur after trauma but i rarely see it. Comfort measures are a start, heating pad & ibuprophen. You should call the kids dr & discuss the sx. An evaluation may find a treatable trigger.
