Talk to surgeon : There are risks of recurrence with any surgery. Make sure the surgeon sees your mom. If he/she did it laparoscopically then it was patched. The hernia may be fixed but still has a lump. The surgeon will do a thorough physical exam and order tests if needed.

Recurrence of hernia: After repair is always a risk, although this one happened relatively early. Unfortunately, she will likely need another repair. Get another opinion from another surgeon.
