Few days: Antibiotics take a few days to really start working, since most of them work when the bacterial cells divide, and since all the bacteria do not divide at the same time, it takes a few days. In addition, 5 abscessed teeth at the same time is quite a lot of infection. You've let things go downhill for a very long time to get to this stage. Be patient and you will feel better soon.

Abscess treatment: Only two cures for abscessed teeth--extractions or root canals. Antibiotics may mask the pain for a while but the pain and swelling will return. Maybe your dentist wanted you on antibiotics for a day or two before providing treatment. Delaying definitive treatment could put your life at risk. Seek care today!

Antibiotics are: A prophylactic crutch for further definitive and necessary treatment. Depending on the condition of the teeth and associated periodontal structures, extractions or root canals might be indicated. Even if you feel better in a few days please follow through with definitive treatment. Hope this helps and thanks for the question.

Hopefully soon: That will depend upon a few factors & it really is hard to say. You have quite a lot of stresses on your body & it will take at least 24 hours for the antibiotics to start having any effect. However, it also depends upon your body's health & ability to deal with the infection along with the severity of the infections. Antibiotics alone will not solve the problem. Each tooth requires treatment!

5 abscessed teeth: So this has been going on for a long time. You'll have to give the antibiotics a few days to start to work, and then you will need definitive dental treatment before you run out of pills. If not, the infections will come roaring back. I'm afraid you have ignored your dental health for too long. Pick a good Dentist and follow his/her recommendations to the letter.
