Yes: If you are having pain due to degenerative disc disease, pain medicine may be appropriate. It will not help heal or reverse the diseased discs, but will help manage your symptoms.

As part of Rx: If by degen disk disease you mean disk pressure on nerves causing "pinched nerve" sympt, eg.Radiating pain, +/-numbness, weakness, then pain meds can be helpful temporarily. Acute attacks can last several weeks. Rx can include oral antiinflamm, maybe steroids by mouth or injection, muscle relaxers for painful spasm, and physical therapy. Need narcotics chronically, see ortho, neurosurg, pain spec.

See MD: I am not sure why being born in 1975 precludes treatment of your pain. Yes pain medication may be appropriate. If you have a diagnosis of ddd i assume you have had x-rays or an mri. See a pain specialist.
