When the index value is below the positive level (usually 0.9 to 1.1), it it totally negative. The same specimen tested 10 times would give 10 different numbers. While this can be unnerving, the detailed are not designed for the doctor and the lab, not the patient. The doctor then just tells the patient the result is negative. If still nervous, get retested; it will still be negative. Good luck.
