The reasons for non-union include decreased blood supply, infection, fracture fragments not apposed, movement of fragments, or soft tissue interposition at fracture site. Sometimes goes on to heal without surgical intervention. If doesn't heal by 6 months , need surgery.A non-union that does not heal is pseudarthrosis.
