Outbreaks are most infectious the first 2-3 days and probably rarely transmissible to other persons after 5-6 days, assuming healing is well underway. But it's still wise to avoid direct contact with other persons (kissing, oral sex) until healing is entirely complete -- intact skin, any scabs have dropped off, etc.
