A member asked:

What are best guidelines for a mobile 93 year old female in fair health to get a flu shot and a new formulation covid shot this year. her physician did not recommend either this year, she had flu shot last year and covid vax and booster?

Most docs will recommend both as even with good health older persons are more at risk of getting these and with more complications. So let her get both. Wish her great health

The older someone is, the more important vaccination is for both influenza and covid. Also look into vaccination against rewspiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Assuming no known allergy to prior immunizations, she should get all three vaccines; no reason to delay. Discuss again with her doctor; or consider vaccination at a local pharmacy. Good luck to her.
