A member asked:

How is it determined when to replace a pigtail suprapubic cath or a foley. just been told every 3 months in my case! others say 4 to 6 weeks?

It depends on the size of the catheter lumen, amount of mucus/debris produced by the bladder and the condition for which it is placed. So it is not a fixed period.

This would depend on why you need the cath. Discuss with local team caring for you who knows more details about you.
