I have to take 1g amoxicillin three times a day, how often should i take it? can it be taken say every 6 hours?

Generally yes: Amoxicillin can be taken every 6 hours but the dose may need to be changed. For a person with a normal liver and kidneys the maximum dose is 4g per day. It really depends on why you are taking the medicine. Speak with your doctor.

6 hours is fine: If the prescription says 3 times a day (tid), every 8 hours is not the requirement. When it comes to oral antibiotics such as amoxicillin, every 6 hours should be practically just as good. Long answer but that's what i expect of my patients if i write 3 times a day prescription. It means 3 times a day while awake, roughly every 6 hours.
