Everyone has blood pressure variability throughout the day. The high blood pressure you are experiencing may need it be treated if the blood pressure stays at that level for any amount of time. It is not good for your heart to have your blood pressure go that high so your cardiologist may need to adjust your medicines. So, follow up with your cardiologist and review your blood pressure readings.

I have had patients like you with what is termed labile hypertension of the elderly caused by autonomic dysfunction leading to inappropriate BP regulation. It can be dangerously high or low on the same day. It calls for the checking of your BP at least 4 times a day and adding or withholding certain meds according to a scale outlined by the treating MD or cardiologist. The goal is avoid big swings
