For a lady, the presence of epithelial cells in the urine is quite common, either high or low quantity, because the urine is often contaminated with vaginal discharge which carries a lot of squamous epithelial cells. Their presence does not have much clinical meaning when a routine urinalysis is done. However, if bladder cancer is suspected then urine cytology test needs to be done. Take care.
