Are active and acute used interchangeably on an ex-ray. ive had no acute cardiopulmonary abnormality. and no active pulmonary disease. does this mean the same thing?

In that context, yes, they both mean that there is nothing on the x-ray that would require treatment at this time. Acute means short-term problems as opposed to chronic, long-term issues. Active means something needing treatment. But, in the context you are quoting, they would both mean the same thing-there is nothing right now that requires treatment. Good luck!

Active and acute have different meanings in medicine so no acute finding is not the same as no active finding. A chest X-ray can be abnormal with the chronic change(s) such as changes of COPD, interstitial lung disease , etc. which are based on the previous chest films but the latest film can be read as no acute finding because there is no change in the mean time. Take care.
