Tingling is often a forerunner of a cold sore outbreak. An eruption may clear in a few days, a week or much longer. It's variable among different people but less than a week is much less common.

"Some people" are wrong. True herpes outbreaks involve blisters or open sores and cannot heal sooner than 7-10 days. (Same for almost any skin break. When there is any open sore, once the cause is gone, the healing process typically takes a week or more.)
