It is expected that all physicians should be able to treat pelvic infections because we are all trained to, and to seek help in consultations when we are not able to. If you need a second opinion you could ask your gynecologist to refer you to an infectious disease physician because there are situations of resistant bacteria that may need different approach to cure.
