A member asked:

Hello i have bacterial folliculitis and i wanna ask how does it spread on the same body. does the bacteria infect the follicle only if theres a cut or wound? can u transmit the bacteria from slightly touching the area and then another body part?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It does not require a cut or wound for follicles to get infected. All kinds of bacteria are present on our skin normally and there is a mutual symbiosis in health. If the persons local or general immune system gets weak or bacteria become or are invaded by an invasive kind then infection such as folliculitis can occur. A common bacteria for foll. is staphylococcus. Pl see your doc keep skin clean
