Amalgam is a mixture of mercury, silver, copper, tin and zinc & allergy to amalgam is very rare. Symptoms of amalgam allergy are similar to those experienced in a typical skin allergy which include skin rashes and itching. You have to see an allergist for testing. Without allergy, mercury inhalation is the only health hazard with amalgam filling but this risk is considered trivial. Take care.

A blood, fecal, and urine test is used for mercury allergy or poisoning. Symptoms are swelling, loss of taste and tingling in hands.
