A member asked:

How do i find out if i have an allergy to silver dental fillings? what test do i ask for and is it patch testing or blood testing?

You see an Allergist for appropriate testing. I would think that allergy to silver is exceptionally rare. Mercury, used in silver amalgam fillings, can very rarely cause untoward reactions if not properly bound to the other metals, primarily silver, in the amalgam. I'm still waiting to meet an individual with a true silver filling allergy.

Both tests are invasive, but the blood test is more accurate. If you were allergic you would have skin lesions by now. Silver fillings are still considered safe.
