I recollect the initial proposal made around 2005 to recommend parents and grandparents of newborn to receive Tdap vaccine while newborn infant is still in nursery. This was intended to reduce the incidence of pertussis (whooping cough) among young infants. Tdap recipients will be much less likely to develop pertussis and to transmit it to the infants.
