A member asked:

Whats the difference between vitamin d and vitamin d3? and which one is better to take for deficiency?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Two types of vitamin D, the D-2 added to dairy products, and sometimes included in multivitamins and D-3 which is about 3 times more potent and is widely available. The latter is by far the better, and 800-2,000 units daily should suffice. Check levels in about 3 months, and aim for 50-70 ng/ml optimal.
