A member asked:

Last dec went er for covid on 2nd day.dr gave me 3 tablets decadron to take at once then sent me home.can't take paxlovid due to interaction with flexainide for afib.covid was relatively mild,6 days not too sick.why just one time dose of decadron?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The decadron does not treat the virus, however it reduces the inflammation your body could generate against the virus. The inflammation is needed to combat the virus but unfortunately the disease and symptoms most people have is because of too much inflammation so the decadron was given not to eliminate the inflammatory response but to modulate it so you do not get sick.
