A member asked:

My mom recently got blood work and had a t4 level of 121.67. she has been taking levothyroxine 225mcg since may of 2022. this has caused her cholesterol to rise to 340 and triglycerides to rise to 140. should go to er? no endo appts until oct?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I've never seen a T4 level that high & would like to know the reference range for normal T4 in your laboratory. I have seen very high TSH levels though&this would raise cholesterol while overactivity of the thyroid ( hyperthyroidism) has the opposite effect. If she's not experiencing symptoms, I don't think she needs emergency room evaluation but should get instructions from her physician first
