A member asked:

Metacarpal 5 of my hand was broken. six weeks after the plaster is removed, i had stiffness and swelling in the fingers and wrist of my right hand for nearly 3 weeks. can i soak my hands in hot water? will this kind of stiffness go away on its own?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I think the stiffness will gradually resolve. It's ok to soak your hand in hot ( not too hot! ) water for 15 minutes or so. Your hand surgeon will provide instructions on your physical and occupational therapy.
