A member asked:

Hi! at times i get constipated, but, if i eat dairy, at times my bowel movements are looser, i think from lactose intolerance. is there a product that i can take that might cause the same results that the dairy/lactose causes, but in a safe way?

Miralax- is a simple product with the same effect that can be used daily. It takes 3-4 days to work through your system and you can take more or less depending on achieving a desired effect.

If dairy foods result in loose stool when you are constipated then you should eat them as needed instead of taking a laxative and dairy foods used as needed for constipation are considered safe. Exercise, adequate fluid intake (2 liters/day) and high fiber foods are the mainstays for avoiding constipation. You can take fiber supplement OTC if you do not want to select high fiber foods. Good luck.
