Probably you were given an antibiotic prescription. It takes several days for antibiotics to clear symptoms of diverticulitis. Contact your doctor if pain is worsening or if no better after 5-6 days. Good luck.

Diverticulosis is common and often asymptomatic. Complications of sigmoid diverticulosis are diverticulitis which can cause left lower quadrant pain and lower GI bleed. It is unclear whether diverticulosis is preventable. High fiber & fluid intake, smoking cessation & exercise may lower the complications of diverticulosis. Your mild abdominal pain is not due to sigmoid diverticulosis. Good luck.

There is a difference between diverticulosis and diverticulitis.Diverticulosis is a condition with small out-pouchings of the colon wall and causes no symptoms by itself. And it cannot be undone by any treatment except surgery which is only done when the divurticulum gets infected (diverticulitis) and causes complications. your pain could be from another cause
