I've been taking the combo pill for four months. however i am not gonna see my boyfriend for the next 3 - 4 months. can i go off the period for that time to see if it'll improve my mood swings or will it likely do more harm than good?

You can stop any pill to see how removing the hormone it contains effects your system. When and if you start it back, many OBGYNs would encourage a backup BC for the first month to be sure of the protection. If stopping helps, you might consider a hormone free IUD for protection since it can provide years of benefit with no hormones.
