How late is too late to take plan b? if i tare it after the suggested time period will it harm me or just be not as effective?

Not as effective: Usually Plan B is taken the next day after unprotected intercourse. No birth control is 100% effective. Sperm can live in fallopian tubes for up to 72 hours after ejaculation and migration through the cervix. With Plan B, the sooner the better for effectiveness.

Take as soon as you: can. Plan B One-Step is up to 89 % effective when taken within 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex. It can reduce chance of pregnancy by up to 95% if used within 24 hours. It continues to reduce the risk of pregnancy up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex, but is less effective as time passes.
