A member asked:

What does laryngeal acid reflux literally look like? if i was to see into my throat (around the epiglottis or if the reflux reached as high as my tonsils), what would the reflux look like? what color/consistency/etc.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Laryngopharangeal reflux would be essentially colorless. This reflux, if it emanates from the distal esophagus, can be acidic, but if it starts from the lower part of the throat ( pharynx ) it is.nonacidic and the usual treatment for GERD usually doesn't relieve symptoms. This is why most cases of LPR are very annoying & difficult to treat even by otolaryngologists.
