Rickets occurs when there is a deficiency of vitamin D. Physiologic bowing of legs can be a genetic condition which is not affected by diet or vitamin D. Supplementation with vitamin D may help if the leg bowing is a result of Rickets. Talk to the childs Pediatrician to formulate an appropriate plan which may include imaging, blood tests and supplementation.
