Kidney infection or pyelonephritis is an UPPER Urinary Tract Infection which is treated with antibiotic. We can treat with 7 day oral antibiotic in mild case. In moderate to severe case, antibiotic should be given IV in the first couple days then it can be switched to oral route. Urine culture should be done and blood culture is also indicated when admitted. Good luck.

UTI means infection in the lower or upper urinary tract. Upper being the Kidneys. This is relatively unusual and causes fever and chills. The best way to treat is to see a Urologist to make sure that is what it is and then get treated
