Ketones are the breakdown of the excess product of fats when they are converted to glucose to fuel your system. If you were not finding ketones in your blood/pee I would not expect your diet to be successful, since your goal is to breakdown fat. When you are not diabetic, the chances of your developing symptomatic ketoacidosis is nil. Your metabolism has the backup systems to avoid this.
