Had mri for knee pain, painful popping, catching and swelling behind knee. very stiff this morning. diclofenac didn't help pain in knee. now hamstring hurts. what could be causing all this? waiting for results of mri?

You may have strained your hamstring muscles. You might have a popliteal cyst behind your knee. You could for some unknown reason have a blood clot or possibly a varicose vein or maybe phlebitis. Or maybe a torn meniscus.This is why we do imaging to narrow down the possibilities in conjunction with a knee exam. Hang in there for the results.
