See Primary Care: A family doctor can run lab tests for Rhematoid arthritis as well as other infectitious diseases that cause swollen joints. A complete physical and labs you will help you decide on what type of specialist to see. Rheumatology is also a specialist that maybe helpful for you

Yes and Rheumatology: It sounds to me like you have a polyarthritis that may be an inflammatory arthritis. Lab tests for connective tissue disease are not routinely performed, but in your case I would test for Lyme disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, and other causes of polyarthropathy. Do your painful swollen joints migrate? Any joint fluid taken for analysis? Any trauma? Full history and exam indicated.
