Hello , had unprotected sex june 3rd , last week started having a sore throat shined a light on it some red looking vessels a nurse said likely from irritation. also had red dots on tounge they said was thrush. when can i check for hiv?

Probably a virus and unrelated to your sexual exposure: sore throat rarely is an STD symptom. However, HIV is a possible cause, especially if at high risk (e.g. sex with other men). Enough time has already gone by for a conclusive HIV AgAb (4th generation) blood test. Probably it will be negative but you can't take that chance. Good luck.
