A member asked:

Will having bad wisdom teeth or infection cause bells palsy or brain infection really scared of dentists afraid of nerve damage from numbing?

Bell's palsy is mostly a viral issue so don't worry about that. Infection in a wisdom tooth that is neglected can enter the blood stream and cause bacterial growth in the body. A common site is the heart (endocarditis) but the bugs can lodge in other places including the brain (rare). Nerve damage from dental numbing is vanishingly rare - not to worry. Get them treated.

BELL' S PALSY IS A FACIAL PARALYSIS OF THE MUSCLES SUPPLIED BY THE SEVENTH CRANIAL NERVE.IT IS NOT CAUSED BY AN INFECTION OF WISDOM TEETH BUT BY THE POSSIBLE TRAUMA AFTER AN EXTRACTION. IN MOST CASES THE CAUSE IS FROM LOCAL AND SYSTEMIC DISEASE. SEE A DENTIST FOR ANY TOOTH INFECTION NOW.
