It can be a small heart attack-the doctor may have seen that the wall of the heart was not moving normally during the cardiac catherization and that is why the cardiologist said there was a small heart attack. It may be such a small abnormality that it will not affect the function of your heart. You cardiologist can likely explain this to you as well . The Q wave may be indicative of this.

One of the more difficult chores in interpreting 12 lead EKGs is differentiating positional Q waves in leads 2,3&AVF from pathological Q waves (inferior wall infarction pattern). In the 1960's a vectorcardiogram would tell the difference but these are.no longer performed. An echocardiogram may show decreased wall motion in the inferior wall of the left ventricle when there has been an inferior MI.
