A member asked:

Ive tested negative hsv1&2 on western blot. after, i had taken a few weeks of 500 mg daily of valtrex on and off and then had a tiny cut swabbed. it was negative. what are the chances the swab was really negative? or was it affected by the valtrex?

It is certain you do not have HSV2, and probably not HSV1. (One third of people with HSV1 never test positive.) Valacyclovir (Valtrex) does not alter blood tests results.
