My 5 year old had a screening photo done at annual well visit. it suggests possible anisometropia (0.96) . pediatrician not concerned. can this be caused by brain tumor or something serious? or is it just a lazy eye , amblyopia thing?

This eye refractive issue has nothing to do with brain lesion. Yes, it can cause lazy eye, amblyopia, if not treated. You should read this short article for more info - https://www.aapos.org/glossary/anisometropia - Your child should be evaluated by a pediatric ophthalmologist. Good luck.
